Here at Portobello Institute, our BSc (Hons) in Sports Psychology, Coaching & PE has proven popular, with our graduates going many different but equally exciting professional paths. Let’s take a look at what you can achieve with a degree in Sports Psychology.
Join a professional sports team
In modern professional sport, taking care of an athlete’s mental condition is becoming as important as taking care of their physical condition. A lot of professional sports teams are hiring psychologists to work with their players to ensure that they are mentally prepared for the toll their sporting schedule can take. With a degree in sports psychology, you will be able to show to these teams that you are qualified to look after the psychological needs of their high-performing athletes.
Open your own clinic
Instead of joining a team, why not be your own boss? Graduates of our BSc (Hons) in Sports Psychology, Coaching & PE can, and have, go on to open their own sports psychology clinics. From there, you can choose your clients and work across a diverse range of athletes from various sports. In fact, one of our graduates turned tutors, Alan Whelan, did just that and you can read about his story here.
Further study
As with most of our sports degrees, there is always the option of further study. The BSc (Hons) in Sports Psychology, Coaching & PE is no different. There are many opportunities to move on to both Masters and PhD level education here in Ireland and indeed further afield when you complete this degree.
