5 Reasons to do Sports Therapy at Portobello Institute

Pathways to Physiotherapy

One of the biggest reasons for anyone to do a Sports Therapy course is the ability to move into a Masters in Physiotherapy afterwards. If you, like many others, find yourself in a situation where the steep entry requirement and limited spaces available have you questioning physiotherapy as a potential career path, this course is perfect for you. Our graduates can, and have, gone on to Masters in Physiotherapy across Ireland and abroad.

Open your own clinic

If the masters route is not for you and you want to go straight to work after graduating, you can! The skills and knowledge you gain in this three-year programme will leave you fully qualified to work in or open your own sports therapy clinic and begin working with clients straight away. Not only that, on completion you will obtain professional membership of the global Society of Sports Therapists, the only programme in Ireland to carry this recognition.

Learn from experts

Here at Portobello, we believe that to be the best, you have to learn from the best. That is no different for our BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy. All of our lecturers are industry professionals with a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you on your journey. Tutors Cathal Brady and Shannon Byrne are also Portobello alumni and so know exactly what our students go through every step of the way. Meet the rest of the team here.

Different delivery methods

Portobello Institute’s aim is to make education accessible for everyone. While many sports therapy courses require almost full commitment from their students, we understand that in life that cannot always be a possibility. Through our blended learning delivery mode, you can comfortably balance work, academic and personal lives and still come out at the end with a great qualification.

Your Success Matters

One of our guiding principles is nurturing the one in everyone. With a smaller class size and tutors who are passionate about their students, we can give you the focused attention and support that can often be found lacking in much larger institutions. Not only that, but each student in the course is also assigned a personal academic tutor whose main goal is to support you and answer any questions you may have in your time with us.
