Add SNA Level 6 to your CV in time for September

Special Needs Education SNA Portobello Institute

An increased demand for SNAs in classrooms across the country is expected when children go back to school this September.

Having spent so much time at home due to the Covid-19 lockdown, many children who wouldn’t usually need an extra helping hand are expected to need support catching up.

This is good news for anyone who is thinking of becoming and SNA as employment opportunities are expected to increase.

But how do you stand out from the crowd in an interview?

According to our SNA tutor Clare Bowman, “I have been on a couple of panels where SNAs are being hired and the one thing I would say is that principals are impressed by the Level 6. I definitely think it makes an applicant stand out.”

By adding the Level 6 award to your CV gives you a greater understanding of the competencies required to work as an SNA.

During the Level 6 programme you will gain a deeper understanding of education, health and safety, teaching methodologies, educational philosophy and practice, literacy, mathematics and techniques for assessing, planning and evaluating.

A former student of the Level 6 SNA course at Portobello, Sarah, said: “Level 6 definitely deepens your knowledge and makes you look at special needs from a different perspective like the assessment process versus care needs. Understanding something about the assessment process has actually helped me in my job in a mainstream school.”

At this stage of the year, SNAs are considering their options for the upcoming new school year in September.

If you want to increase your job opportunities and really make a difference in the lives of children who will be in need of additional support following the last year of lockdown, now is the time to add a Level 6 to your skillset.

If you already have a Level 5 SNA Award, enrolling in our SNA Level 6 Intensive or Online with Webinars courses in April means that you will have completed all your classes by September and be in a better position for the upcoming employment opportunities.

If you are completely new to SNA, you can enrol on our Level 5 and 6 booking package deal.

Apply online now or speak to our SNA admissions expert George Boylan for more information.
