How Do I Prepare for an Application Interview with Portobello Institute?

04 May 2022

So, you’ve just booked an application interview with one of Portobello’s admission team. What next? You might be nervous or confused as to what you should have prepared going into this interview.

Well, we’re here to say, don’t panic.

Our application interview is not as daunting as it may seem. The reality is we just want to get to know more about you.

Once you hop on the call with a member of the admissions team, they will ask you some questions about you, your background, why you are interested in doing the course, and what you’re looking to get out of it.

This is just standard procedure. All they’re trying to do is make sure that you are a good fit for the course you are applying for, and that in turn, the course is also a good fit for you.

Additionally, it is an opportunity for you to ask any questions that may not have been answered by your application process to that point, as well as get a feel for what we’re all about here at Portobello.

In short, this is not a formal interview. It is a casual chat. It will not be the determining factor in you getting accepted on the course. It is merely just to get to know more about our applicants.

Still a bit nervous? Why not hear from our previous students?

“I was worried because if I didn’t get into the course, I was at a loose end with what to do next, so I definitely turned up to the interview stressed.

“When I was interviewed, I was completely put at ease and felt like I was chatting informally to somebody who had the same interest in sports therapy as me.” – Jamie Judge, Alumni of BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy

“I didn’t do so well in my A-Levels which then got me panicking I wouldn’t be able to get into any universities in the UK or Ireland.

“When the time came to go to my interview, I was interviewed by Emma McLoughlin and she told me to relax and just be myself.” – Tara McCabe, Alumni of BSc in Sports Science & PE

“I had a couple of different interviews and opportunities here and there, but nothing really surfaced throughout lockdown.

“There was one day where I had a lightbulb moment after an interview, and I contacted Anne Marie. I knew she was there from Level 5, she was such a good point of contact with all the students. I reached out to her and knew that it made perfect sense to do Fashion Management.” – Áine Lee, Alumni of Business of Fashion

So, why wait? You can book a consultation with any of the members of our admission team today and begin the journey of following your passion and finding the right course for you.
