Portobello Institute Virtual Open Evenings: Everything You Need to Know

graduation

Making the decision to follow your passion and choose the course for the career you want can be difficult. At Portobello Institute we understand the process that you are going through when researching your study and career path and we want to give you as much information as possible so you can make the choice that is right for you.

We know that you can spend hours online searching the specific terms of courses and careers that you are interested in or maybe you are not sure what exactly you want to do and you are looking for broader options.

This is why Portobello Institute offers you one-to-one support from the very beginning. Our admissions team are experts in their fields, ready to explain the different career paths, entry requirements, price plans, awarding bodies and opportunities that are specific to you and your experience to date.

Our virtual open evenings give you another opportunity to connect with Portobello Institute while making your decision. The open evenings are held online so they are accessible to you anywhere in the world. They are recorded in case you miss it, and we can send you the recording if you contact our admissions team.

These virtual open sessions give you the chance to get a feeling for Portobello Institute, our warm and welcoming atmosphere, and our one-to-one support to help you follow your passion and fulfil your potential.

You will have the chance to gain deeper knowledge on the course or courses you are interested in, meet some of the tutors and lecturers who may one day be teaching you and have the opportunity to ask them any questions you have and get your answers as soon as possible.

Every couple of weeks, Portobello Institute hosts a series of online open evenings for all the departments of education that we offer, Sports, Early Years & Montessori, Facilities Management, Business of Fashion, Special Needs Assisting & Inclusive Education, and Travel & Tourism.

You can check out recordings of the last sessions and registration links for the next dates here.

What is a Virtual Open Evening at Portobello Institute?

A virtual open evening is an online version of the traditional open days where people physically attended the college to speak about the courses on offer.

Running the open evenings online allows people to attend from all over the world from the comfort of home, making it more accessible.

Many of our programmes are now delivered completely online through 'blended learning' and our students may never need to attend our Dublin City Centre campus physically.

The virtual open evening is an opportunity for prospective students to find out more about studying at Portobello Institute.

We will have tutors from every department on hand to explain the ins and outs of the various courses. They will go through the course content, modes of study available, assessment details, and much more in a video presentation style, much like an online class that you may experience in future.

There is also an in-depth questions and answers session, which you can ask through a chat box, so there is never a need to turn your camera or mic on if you are not comfortable doing so.

Members of our expert admissions team also attend to assist with answering your questions related to enrolment.

Where Does the Virtual Open Evening Take Place?

To make the event as accessible as possible, our open days will take place online via our event platform, Hopin. Hopin is another platform like Zoom which allows you to host video presentations. It requires all attendees to register their details before attending, this just means adding your email address and password to an account so you can log in to watch.

When is the Next Virtual Open Evening?

When you register you will then get a reminder email with the link to attend which is automatically generated from Hopin. The easiest way to access the event will be through the link in your email but you can also download the Hopin app on your phone to watch from there or go to the website hopin.com and log in with your email address and password.

It will be a huge help to you on the evening if you remember your login details!
