Career Opportunities for an MSc Sports Performance Analysis Graduate

While some postgraduate qualifications can narrow your options with specialisation, the MSc in Sports Performance Analysis, accredited by Liverpool John Moore’s University, has been designed to leave graduates with a broad range of options in terms of future employment.

While performance analysis is the main focus, the skills learned in this course are quite transferable across different sub-sections of professional sports such as sports psychology, nutrition, S&C, and physiotherapy.

Over the course of this programme, you will learn the core principles and key skills involved in working with both individual athletes and teams, both at an elite level. You will be a valuable member of a backroom team for elite sports people. You will be responsible for collecting data from previous sporting events as well as continuously monitoring your athlete(s) training and analysing that data to show where performance can be optimised. You can be the difference between an athlete coming 1st or 2nd.

Sports Performance Analysts can progress in careers in the sports technology industry, working on developing, researching and delivering the next innovations from software and hardware to the world of elite sports.

Sports Performance Analysts play a key role in providing performance footage, review and analysis for TV commentary. This could include coverage of major world championships as well as weekly league requirements.

If working in elite professional sport is not the goal you have in mind you can go into high-level research roles for different medical companies, helping them improve their processes and products in order to benefit the health of the general population
