What Can I Do With SNA at Portobello Institute?

17 Dec 2021

Within the world of education, Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) hold a vitally important role in the development and care of those with learning and other disabilities. At Portobello, we have two offerings of SNA education that will set you on the way to the extremely rewarding career of being an SNA.

SNA – QQI Level 5

Our QQI accredited Level 5 course in Special Needs Assisting is the perfect introduction to the discipline for those without any prior knowledge.

Taking place over the course of three months, this course is great whether you are pursuing a career in the area or simply learning how to take better care of a loved one.

This course will help you not only gain the knowledge but develop key characteristics like empathy and patience that are essential to working with our most vulnerable.

If it is a career you are looking to pursue, this award will allow you to enter a school setting and assist teachers with students with learning disabilities as well as working in hospitals and care homes with vulnerable adults

For more information visit the course page here.

SNA – QQI Level 6

If you want to enhance your SNA knowledge and skills even more, our QQI Level 6 SNA course is perfect.

You’ll build upon the foundational material you learned in your Level 5 and come out even more equipped to do the jobs mentioned above.

We offer a package whereby you can book both your Level 5 and Level 6 simultaneously.

I love the interaction with students.  Every day I get to meet different individuals and learners who are looking to change their lives and I get to be the person who advises them on the best programme to take. It is a fantastic feeling to be part of their journey.  For many learners this is a huge decision and I get to be the person who supports them in making that decision.  There is an incredible sense of pride when I see our learners graduate and achieve their education goals.
