What are the career opportunities for an IWFM 5 Sustainability & Environmental Issues graduate?

The IWFM 5 Sustainability & Environmental Issues course is an ideal add on for those who are already working in the workplace and facilities management space.

With sustainability being at forefront of discussions across the FM space, getting a qualification that deals specifically with issues of sustainability and the environment will prove very beneficial to established industry professionals.

This IWFM award is designed to complement other FM qualifications, such as a BSc (Hons) in Facilities Management held by facilities managers or those managing workplace environments. This award gives graduates the opportunity to apply for roles requiring knowledge of sustainability and environmental management as it applies to Facilities Management.

If you are in a situation where you feel you might have gone as far as you can in the Facilities Management field, this qualification can add diversity to your existing experience and open new avenues for career progression, such as issues of climate change and environmental policy become more frequent topics of discussion in the board rooms of top companies from around the world.

Some job titles you could hold with this qualification are:

  • Sustainability Communications Officer
  • Climate Justice Officer
  • Sustainability Manager
  • Environmental and Sustainability Advisor
  • Corporate and Social Responsibility Officer
  • Energy and Sustainability Consultant

Upon completion of this programme, it can also open new opportunities for even further study in the area of environmental issues. Portobello Institute offers a Level 9 Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation for Sustainability in the Workplace. This will put you firmly in the driver's seat as someone with the most up-to-date, theory-backed knowledge on sustainability and environmental issues. Coupled with your existing professional experience in the field of Facilities Management, the opportunities for career progression will be substantial.
