What does an IWFM 5 Sustainability & Environmental Issues in FM Course Qualify you to do?

The Level 5 IWFM qualification in Sustainability & Environmental Issues in Facilities Management is designed to be a valuable complement to other qualifications in FM, such as our BSc (Hons) in Facilities & Workplace Management, which are held by facilities managers or those managing workplace environments.

The award itself will allow those who attain it to apply for and successfully obtain roles where issues of sustainability and the environment play a central part of the role’s day-to-day responsibilities.

Sustainability is the word on the lips of many in the facilities and workplace management industry at the moment. Recently, Portobello Institute hosted a series of webinars where a number of high-ranking professionals in the facilities and workplace management industry came together to discuss the role sustainability is now playing in FM. You can check out the series on our YouTube channel.

Therefore, having a qualification that deals directly with sustainability in FM can be an extremely valuable asset to those looking to have the cutting edge over their colleagues and peers from other companies.

Aside from opening up new career paths, this qualification will give the foundational understanding of sustainability and environmental issues to then go and study it at an even higher level. Many degree programmes are coming on stream where sustainability is a central topic, and this Level 5 qualification will put you in a good position to apply to these courses and expand your knowledge of sustainable issues even further. One such course that you can apply to is Portobello Institute’s Level 9 Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation for Sustainability in the Workplace. You can learn about this course here.
