Who Should Study a BA (Hons) Fashion Buying & Merchandising?

The fashion industry is broad enough and varied enough that there really is something for everyone. However, at Portobello Institute, we encourage our students to be as ambitious and driven as possible, choosing the right course for the career that they want.

As well as all the practical skills that you will learn from the BA (Hons) Fashion Buying & Merchandising degree, the fashion industry requires its employees to hold and hone other key attributes.

As is the case in many other industries, networking is a fundamental aspect of work in fashion. Having a significant collection of contacts within the industry will only strengthen your standing when applying for jobs. Thankfully, this degree will facilitate your being able to build this network. Our graduates have been incredibly successful in gaining employment both at home and abroad. Much of this success is due to the established network and strong links with many of the main fashion buying and merchandising departments within some of Ireland’s largest retailers.

As stated above, ambition is a key trait shared by those looking to get into this line of work. The career possibilities that will be available upon graduation are only as long as you allow your ambition to let them. You will be qualified to go straight into some of the most prestigious retailers in Ireland, such as Primark and Pamela Scott, and help them to maintain and grow their brands both domestically and abroad.

Lastly, and most importantly, those seeking to apply to this degree require a keen interest and love for all things fashion. At Portobello Institute, we encourage everyone to follow their passion and fulfil their potential. If your passion is fashion, then this course is for you!

Choose the course for the career you want and follow your passion in the world of fashion.
